Some of the woodblock prints designed by Gekkō were sold individually while others were sold in book form. Eight flower and (or) bird prints sold individually are included in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Each picture shows a greatly simplified landscape with one or more birds prominently positioned. Gekkō attempts to bring his bird subjects to life in these pictures by showing them engaged in some type of activity (prints 1-5) or with bills open making sounds (prints 6-7) or standing cautiously on thin ice (print 8).
